1. 2. Solomon Levi Kelly: Born 19 Novenber 1831, Terre Haute?, Vigo, IN; Died 19 September, 1907; Married Christina B. Nelson (or possibly Silverthorn): Born 20 May 1831, IL (Keokuk, IA according to the Bette June Nelson Book); Died in IL or KS. Since at least one of their children was born in Crawford Co. KS they may have lived here for some time. Donald Strong recalled that Solomon raised cattle for sale in St. Louis. The site of the original Kelly farmhouse was at First and North Grand, on the southwest corner, in Springfield, IL. There is now a park on this site though in the 1950s and 60s there was a plaque denoting this. The plaque is no longer there though there is a park on this site. Other than this recollection there is no evidence to support this notion. By the time of the 1900 census at least we know that the family lived in Girard, KS. They were almost certainly living at this location in 1878 when their (youngest?) daughter Jenny was born there.

The 1900 census reads: Kelly, Solomon, w. male, Nov. 1831, 68 years old, Bn: Indiana, resid: Crawford cty-city Girard Christina B., wife, May 1831, age 69, Bn: Illinois. Loyd (grandson), May 1892, age 8, Bn: Ks. Benjamin (grandson), Oct. 1894, age 5, Bn: Ks. Solomon and Christina had nine children: Anna Kelly who married George Washington Strong Sr.; Rose Kelly who married Mr. Stafford; Ida Kelly who married Mr. Baxter; Jenny May Kelly born 30 January 1878 in Crawford Co., KS who married Henry Hetzel and had Christena; John Kelly who died in Chicopee; Steven Kelly; Sade Kelly; Sarah Kelly; and Levi Kelly. 3. George Kelly: Born about 1811, of Vigo Co, Indiana; Died before 1860? (Not present with the family in the census); Married 13 January 1831, Vigo Co., Indiana; Sarah Staten: Born about 1811, Kentucky. George's Father?--

4. David Kelly: Born about 1795, of Vigo Co., IN. David is the only Kelly listed in the 1820 and 1830 Censuses of Vigo Co. IN. In 1820 David has two children listed in the age range of under 10. If George is the elder child he may be about 8 or 9 at this time. This would make him about 19 or 20 when he married in 1831. This is pure conjecture based on circumstantial evidence. A David Kelly made a will in 1860 in Vigo County, IN. Elizabeth Kelly also made one here in 1876 (Could this be his wife?) 1840	Sarah (Staten) Kelly is found in Riley Twp. in the 1840 Vigo Co., IN Census. She is listed with 1 male under 5 (George), one male 5-10 (Solomon), one female under 5 (Sarah), one female 5-10 (Frances) and one female 40-50 (herself). She lived next to Solomon Fuller (Perhaps the source of Solomon's name, and three doors away from George Staton (presumably her father.)
1850	Sarah (Staten) Kelly is found in the 1850 (10 September) Monroe Co., IL Census. She is listed as 38 (1812), Kentucky; Frances Kelly, 19 (1831), Kentucky; Solomen Kelly 18 (19 Nov 1931), Laborer, Indiana; Sarah Kelly, 16 (1834) Indiana, and George Kelly, 14 (1936) Indiana.

1870	Solomon Kelly is found in the 1870 Census of Clinton Co., IL; He is listed as Solomon Kelly, 39 (19 Nov. 1831), Farmer, $750, Indiana; Christina Kelly, 38 (30 May 1831), Keeps house, Illinois; Levi Kelly, 14 (1856), At home, Illinois; Sarah Kelly, 12 (1857), At home, Illinois; Stephen Kelly, 10, At home, Illinois; John Kelly, 5, Illinois; and Annie Kelly, 3, Illinois. Also living with the family at this time was Sarah Franklin, 57, Kentucky. This is almost certainly Sarah Staten Kelly. She seems to have re-married between the last record of her in 1850 and this record in 1870.
1871	Ida Kelly born 1871 to Solomon and Christina Kelly. Ida later married Mr. Baxter and had Ruth, Milton and Abram;
1874	Rose Kelly born 1874 to Solomon and Christina Kelly, who married Mr. Stafford and had Helen and Paul;
1878	Jenny May Kelly born 30 January 1878 in Crawford Co., KS to Solomon and Christina Kelly. Jenny later married Henry Hetzel and had Christena.
1879	Solomon Kelly and family move from Illinois to Girard, Crawford Co., KS. Since Jenny (above) was born in Crawford Co, KS this event may have taken place one year earlier. (source Solomon's obituary)
