Kompanie Schuster

Since 1986 I have been making and repairing footwear for historical reenactors. My primary focus has been on medieval and renaissance footwear.

However, in 2014 I was asked to build some WWI and WWII German footwear and to repair some existing shoes and boots. This is the result of that request. In the last decade I have repaired many hundreds of boots. These repairs range from the simple to the complex.

Repair work:

A friend bought the pair of boots pictured to the left at a reenactment recently.
Within 10 minutes of wearing them hobnails began falling out. Within an hour the soles had cracked and were falling off.

I removed the old soles, put on new ones with wooden pegs and installed original WWII German hobnails.

The following prices are just guidelines. All prices are per pair where applicable. Other services upon request

Half soles installed with wooden pegs along with full hobnail installation using original German WWII hobnails $80-$100

Half soles installed with wooden pegs along with full hobnail replacement using original conical Hungarian hobnails
$75 Once worn these look a lot like the German ones but they are pointier until they have been used. These work extremely well for WWI boots.

Most boots can be brought back to life for under $100.

The typical cost is about $80

Shipping is extra and at the owner's expense.

Please contact me prior to mailing boots to  me for repair.

Do not send your boots for repairs with insoles. Please remove them and keep them for further use. Any insoles I find in boots will be discarded.

We are no longer able to access the Kompanie Schuster Facebook page because I violated community standards by making a post about the types of glasses worn by German soldiers in WW2. They deleted my account. The Facebook account above is the best way to contact me.
